Discussions with the Councillors-do you think that Manchester Harriers just walked away from using Scholes Fields without trying their hardest to get the Council to meet them halfway with match funding ? If the Gatley Community could fund raise to try and get the £250,000 or so needed to surface the track - that would be marvellous. The Harriers, alone raised £22,000 for the new lighting, a few years back. Sadly the Council is of the opinion that Stockport only needs one athletic track and that is at Woodbank Park . It is a crying shame that a facility such as Scholes track should be left to rot - there is a similar surfaced track at Crossford Bridge in Sale, and another one in Park Road, Timperley, both looked after by Trafford Council, and both in pristine condition.!!
There is a major difference between the Tatton site and the running track - the running track belongs to the Gatley Community and is for the benefit of the community so the community - if it so wishes - can do something about it. Either to fund raise for it or to open discussions with our local councillors. It would be a shame for it just to left to rot.
Scholes Field ?
The track will be "Tattonised"
What do you think will happen to the running track on Scholes Field
The Stadium be scheduled to host the IAAF World Athletics Championships in 2017.
The fate of the running track and field in the interim be unknown - to anyone ! A new round of bids to take over the stadium be in progression.
West Ham United FC are still interested - at board level if not 'terrace' level !
Have any of the olympic medals been awarded to local Olympians? Also does anyone know what is happening with the running track - may be it can be maintained through Olympian Legacy funding?
Business minister Norman Lamb said: "The Olympic and Paralympic Games are
almost upon us and you can sense the excitement building.
"This will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase, not just London, but the
whole of the country to the rest of the world and provide a boost for the
economy, sales and employment."
He added: "Retail workers will keep all their legal protections, such as the
right to opt-out of Sunday working, but many will want to take the opportunity
to work extra or different hours.
"I want employers to work with their staff so that we can all make the most
of the Olympics.
"I want to make it clear that this is a temporary measure and not a test case
for a permanent relaxation of the rules in the future."
Never mind the trail of the Olympic Torch.
Is the route of the Olympic Torch really so important ?
Bearing in mind the antics of G.4 and their complete lack of control over those wishing to be employed at Olympia ,are we allowed to speculate if anything resembling a positive vetting procedure took place during the recruiting of these poorly paid and obviously unreliable applicants.
Surely it is literally dicing with death to permit the access of large or even small numbers of such people into a potentially explosive situation
Why on earth did nobody see fit to bring such an abysmal lapse in security to the attention of the press and Home office in such a manner that thery must respond. Only the police seem to have anything like an an intelligent concept of the risks involved.
What do you think about the extended opening hours on a Sunday for the Olympics. Its only the big stores that will benefit because the little ones can open if they wish. Personally I don't see what the Olympics has got to do with Ikea in Leeds opening until 8pm on a Sunday. Is this the beginning of the end of unrestricted Sunday opening?
p**k ????????????
Can't work it out
Punk? Pewk?
For those of you who want to understand the insult thrust upon us from Robert

All together now .........
Robert -I can recommend a good therapist you sound as though you need one ! Chill Man you're behaving like an idiot for all to see.
There are some really good coffee smells in Gatley - don't really need to go any further. I think Robert that you are one of those that thinks the grass is greener and will never be satisfied. Be happy with what you have and your life will be so much more positive. I think it is really sad that you find the need to insult everyone and everything - doesn't make you happier or a better person. Just really lonely or surrounded by people who are just as miserable. Your cup will always be half empty.
The Gatley Observer. You are obviously a wimp ! Plus, from what you say about your 'life' - you need to 'get out more' - get out of Gatley and 'smell the coffee' !!
The best event besides the parade and fun day was at coffee fix- comedy poetry evening with Dave Puller, Clare Mooney and a surprise visit and performance by Buzz Hawkins - from the "Bradshaws fame" although poorly attended those present were treated to a really enjoyable evening.

Excellent - was impressed it was at Gatley too !
Ssssh!
Its a secret- but rumour has it that the REAL Olympic Torch will be appearing in our Parade on Sunday.
Tell your friends to keep it secret.
Saw the torch in Manchester carried by Sir Chris Hoy, on Deansgate, impressive, also two people I know carried it along the A6 in Stockport.
